Q: I have very fragile hair and it is breaking, what is the best kind of treatment to use and stop breakage?
A: Healthy hair is kept by a balance between moisture and strength. Conditioning treatments should rotate on a three week cycle:
1st week use a moisturising treatment.
2nd week use a reconstructive protein treatment (for strength).
3rd week use an hot oil treatment.
Trim your hair every 8 weeks to prevent splitting. The split will continue up the strands, resulting to breakage which means you only have to cut more length off in the end.
Tugging and fussing with tangles will make the strand situation worse. Instead of a fine tooth comb use a cushioned brush with ball tips. Hold hair very gently and detangle from the ends up.
Q: My hairline has receded terribly from pulling it too tightly. How best can I regrow the lost hair from constantly pulling the thin edges?
A: Ask your Stylist to test your hair strand. Healthy hair should stretch half off its base and return without breaking! That is enough elasticity to pull your hair back for an up-do or or ponytail. However those are ‘baby soft hair’ which never grow to the same density as the rest of the hair, and should be treated as follows:
When pulling hair up or back, brush the baby fine hair forward to leave it out of the up sweep, which is usually styled back in or up afterwards.
That should solve the problem from ever occurring at all! If for any reason the situation cannot be resolved than visit a Professional Stylist for further treatment like Electrolysis or some current Hair Repair Collection which is ideal to replenish, strengthen and prepare weakened hair to grow the hair back. Try it, it’s worth it!

Well than, Sisterlocks which is more manageable and versatile, could be the style for you!
Sisterlocks was founded by Dr. JoAnne Cornwell, a US Beauty Specialist and a Professor of French and African Studies.
Q: Can Sisterlocks be taken out?
A: Yes, though the procedure is tedious. Nevertheless, once you discover the freedom of various options that you can have with your new look, you wouldn’t want to go back! You can then find ways to celebrate your journey.
Q: Why is there an increase in dry scalp with friends with Afro-Caribbean hair. Is it due to the harsh chemicals and treatment we used to use on our hair or is it genetics?
A: Zinc deficiency could be related to dry scalp and dandruff. A diet rich in oily fish like mackerel, salmon, nuts will provide essential fatty acids that will reduce dry skin and scalps. Try Design Essential Scalp & Skin care collections, with natural ingredients to cleanse, treat, hydrate and nourish the scalp.
